Anyone who knows me, knows that one of my favorite things, is to find secret treasures, when it comes to shopping. I found a new second-hand store that I want to share with you. And I'm going to concentrate on a series of blogs dedicated toThrift Shopping, which I strongly support for several reasons.
Saves you money
Designer discoveries for a deal
Saves the environment
Unique one-of-a-kind outfits
Earn money by selling your clothes
SAVES the Environment
Fast fashion has been great, especially for those of us on a budget. We can get the latest styles worn by iconic YouTubers or celebs for cheap prices. But, and this is a big but...fast fashion is one of the biggest polluters in the world, second only to big oil. Ouch! So take a minute to let that sink in before you go to Forever 21 or Zaful and buy that shirt for $5 that you'll only wear once and then throw out.
Thank goodness my generation, Gen Z, is embracing second-hand apparel which is projected to be bigger than fast fashion within the decade according to Thredup's 2019 Resale Report. The report says that more than one in three Gen Z shoppers will buy used clothing this year, versus less than one in five boomers or Gen X consumers. It's because our generation has interest in the environment and ethical shopping.
So folks, my latest thrift store discovery is Buffalo Exchange. There are 6 in New York, several in California, there’s one in D.C. and then locations all around the country. Click here to find a store nearest you.
Here are some of my thrift store finds at Buffalo Exchange in Chelsea New York.
White Long Sleeve Cut-off with Elastic at Sleeves and Waste for $15
Sheer black long sleeve cut off with silver stars for $8
LF Stores Top Normally $95 on sale. I got it for $10
Sequined strapless top for $6
Snakeskin print long sleeve cut off for $8
So if you add that up, I spent $47 for 5 tops. Good on the wallet and the environment.
