I hope fringe doesn’t make you cringe because it’s NOT going anywhere in 2019. It’s been in vogue for the last few seasons and when the designers gave us a sneak peak of what’s coming up in spring 2019, funky, festive, fun fringe was prominently featured. Personally, I became “unhinged” because I love me….some fringe!!

Fringe has been a part of fashion for thousands of years. I mean that literally, since 3000 BC, when Iran was called Mesopotamia, historians first saw fringe portrayed on the clothes of people in ancient sculptures.
Native Americans used fringe in their clothing for decorative purposes as well as for practical reasons. Fringe helped them conserve leather because they didn’t have to trim the seams. It was also thought to repel water to help keep them dry.
The 1920’s was the GOLDEN AGE for fringe. It was considered glamorous. No one can forget the Flapper dress. The fringe was especially highlighted, when the ladies were swinging and shaking during the popular dance, the Charleston.
In the 1950’s, no one knew how to Shake, Rattle and Roll fringe more than Elvis with his iconic unforgettable jumpsuits and jackets.
In the 70’s, the hipsters wore a more original version of the style. Fringe came full circle with designs inspired by Native Americans.
2019's fringe can be all of the above - casual, western, glamorous or hippie. It's all fringe worthy.
